Snug Science Snug2

As a mother, and a runner, I have come across a few snags in the road when it comes to winter training.  Not only is it icy, but I can’t go out with my children because it’s too cold!  With the new Snug² there are no more excuses.  If you have a great running stroller, now you have something that keeps your little ones warmer than ever!

Developed by parents who saw a need, the Snug² bunting really hit the mark in performance baby gear.  At Snug Science, their “dream is to inspire a healthy and active family life which they have termed Parenthlete™ lifestyle.”  This great bunting makes it possible to take your family out in the cold, without getting a cold.  Filling a gap in performance wear by adding performance fabrics and insulation to a baby bunting is a great start.  We as parents of three have always worried about our children in our cold Salt Lake City winters.  We are fortunate enough to have performance wear for ourselves, but our children are a different story.

snug_hayjacAs a mother, because I worry, I tend to go out in my cheap winter coat when I am with my children.  It helps me to gauge whether they are getting cold or not.  I find when I am in my performance wear I can last for hours, while they are frozen after a few minutes.  Not the case with the Snug².  I took my 8 month old and my two year old out on several occasions in the cold (30 degrees) for a run.  This bunting was amazing.  With the PrimLoft® technology, my baby stayed so warm he fell asleep and slept like he was in his crib.  When I pulled him out of the bunting, he felt so warm that I hugged him tight to glean some of the warmth from him.

This bunting has several noteworthy features.  Most importantly, it is machine washable!  Parents of any children know that they tend to get messy, and this is no problem with this bunting.  Lined with nylon, this bunting can be wiped clean on the go, as opposed to other fleece lined buntings where the mess stays there until you get it washed.  It is adjustable; the bottom of the bunting has three stages of zippers to close the bottom for a better cozy fit.   My 5 year old fits into the bunting at the fully open stage, but just barely.  My three year old is the perfect size, but she is the size of your average 4 year old.  The bunting is designed to fit babies to age four and I think they got the fit just right.  My baby fits “snug” as a bug in a rug, as the saying goes.

Other great features are that the zipper on the front is a covered zipper with Velcro tabs to keep the zipper covered for better warmth.  There is faux fur on the hood that looks great and performs great in the wind and cold, but is also removable if it bugs you to have fur around your face (like my children).   The bunting fits into most strollers (I’ve tried 4 and it fits all of them) and the openings for the stroller straps are also as covered as possible to minimize heat loss.  It has arms which is atypical of baby buntings.  My 3 year old loves that she can stretch out, but you can also synch the hand holes closed for your baby.

snug_insideOverall, I would recommend this bunting for any “Parenthlete™” that is as concerned for their children’s comfort as they are for their own.  The performance technology that you enjoy as a parent is just as important for your children and this bunting is a great start.  Check out the bunting at SnugScience.com.  Spring sales are on now and you can save $50 through the month of May, (that’s $199 for a $250 bunting!) with free ground shipping anywhere in the USA!  Thanks Snug Science for this great bonus deal!
