Brooks Adapt Gloves

Running in the winter is always be a bit tougher for me. Not only is it cold but the weather is often times bad and it gets darker earlier in the night. I know for me having the right gear for winter running is essential and one thing that always gets cold are my hands. The Brooks Adapt gloves solve many of the winter running woes.

brooks adapt1When I first got the Adapt gloves I was a little skeptical on how warm they really would be. They are not a super heavy weight insulated glove, but don’t be fooled like I was. I have now worn these for a couple months running here in Utah and a few times the temperatures have been down into the 20s. On cooler days these gloves can be worn just as gloves and work great, but when the temperature really drops the stowable mitten or windshield is a must. On the coldest days I will tuck my thumb up into the mitten/windshield as well and be perfectly warm. On one occasion I was running in rain/sleet then snow and I was surprised at how warm my hands stayed.

The next best thing about the Adapt gloves is that they are bright. As I said a first, most of the time while running in the winter I am running while it is dark outside. These gloves have 3M Scotchlite reflective details  and windshield is a bright green which provides great visibility at night. Having this visibility is a must unless you are running on a treadmill indoors or on a trail where cars are not an issue. And if you really don’t need the windshield, it easily stows away in a pocket on top of the glove. A couple other features of these gloves are that they have a MP# thumb pad and a flip-back thumb which is nice if you need to use a touch screen device.

These have truly turned into my go-to glove this winter. As the temperature keeps dropping into the single digits I might need to get a warmer glove but for anything in the 20s and above the Adapt glove works great. A good designed glove is worth every penny and these gloves are only $30 which is a steal.
