Timex Run Trainer 2.0 GPS Watch

Timex keeps moving forward with GPS training watches. If you like to keep track of your miles and heart rate and everything in between keep this watch in mind. If you know much about Timex then you don’t need me to sell this watch to you. If you don’t and are looking to purchase a GPS watch this might be the one for you.

To start off, what I notice first was the size of this watch. Some of the first GPS watches that I used were huge. The Trainer 2.0 is a nice comfortable size without making it hard to read the display. The other big change that I noticed from older Timex watches that I have used is that they have changed the chest strap. The pod on the strap is held out in front of the fabric, which was more comfortable and it seems to be a better design.

Also if you have used any of Timex’s old GPS watches you will love to hear that they have kept the old features you love but have updated the look and feel of the watch. If you have used any older models then there won’t be a huge change. The only bad thing that I can say about this watch is, it was a little hard to read the print on the watch itself. But with that said I found that after a few uses I learn what buttons to push and reading the “fine” print was not that important.

Along with other GPS watches that I have reviewed this one will sync to your computer for you to analysis the data. You can review your speed, a map of the path you ran and many other graphs and charts. You can break your run down to see where your heart rate spiked or where you were running the fastest. The watch has a USB rechargeable battery so as long as you have a computer handy you won’t have to worry about replacing batteries. As with other (maybe even all) Timex Ironman watches this one is water-resistant to 50 meters. So you could use this GPS watch for triathlons as well.

Overall, I have been very pleased with this watch. If you are in the market for a GPS watch I would recommend taking a closer look at the Timex Run Trainer 2.0. At $275 you are getting a good watch with tons of features. If you don’t care about your heart rate, Timex does sell the watch for $225. Now your next step is to get out and run.
