I don’t know about you but washing dishes isn’t one of my favorite activities, but it is something that has to be done. And doing dishes while out camping can be a tricky thing to do. The TriLite Wash Station by Byer of Maine helps to make this task just a little easier while away from home.
The wash station is a handy little tool for those who love to camp and cook. The station consists of two watertight cavities or buckets to hold water. It makes it nice to have one for washing and the other for rinsing. It also comes with a mesh area to drain and let dishes dry. There is a pouch or pocket on the outside that could hold a sponge or towel.
The first time setting it up the TriLite Wash Station, I would suggest reading the instructions. I am notorious for trying everything before reading the instructions. So the first time it was a little harder than it needed to be, but after that it was a breeze. It sets up in less than a minute and take down is just as fast. When set up it is fairly sturdy. I would add a little hot water when doing dishes and never had a problem with melting or leaking. I would be a little hesitant to add boiling water though, but I never tried so I don’t know how it would hold up if you did. It does pack down pretty small for what it is. I wouldn’t use it backpacking but it was small enough and easy to throw in anytime I was going car camping.
The one improvement that I would like to see is that it be a little taller. I am not a tall person but it was a little low to the ground for me. This is an easy problem to deal with if you have a table or rock to set it on. I think this would be a little hard to fix as this is a stool as well, but if there was a way to have telescoping legs or something that would be a big improvement.
Lastly, as I just mentioned, this Wash Station can convert into a stool. When not using the Wash Station to wash dishes you just switch out the included sling to turn it into the camp stool. This is nice when space and utility is necessary.
The TriLite Wash Station is a great multi-use piece of gear. If you love to cook when out camping, which means you will be using dishes; this might be the solution for keeping all those dishes clean.
