Hosted by Girls on the Run, an after school youth development program for girls 3–8th grade, at the Salt Lake City Public Library, this event is sure to be fabulous.   LUNAFEST is a fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities.  All proceeds from LUNAFEST will benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and Girls on the Run Utah.

The Girls on the Run mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.  The 10-12 week curriculum innovatively weaves training for a 5k run with lessons that empower girls to celebrate their bodies, honor their voices and embrace their gifts.

This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through nine short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to fictional drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, motherhood, body image, aging, cultural diversity and breaking barriers.   The films will loop twice from 6:45-10:00 with an intermission every 30 minutes.
