Do you think you could go for 48 hours without your cell phone? If so, this is a challenge you need to consider. SatelliteInternet.com is looking to hire someone to take a digital detox for 2 nights in an RV at a national park of their choice then report on their experience using a wireless hotspot connection on the third night.
Many Americans have a hard time unplugging and SatelliteInternet.com is trying to help one lucky winner to do this. Here’s the catch… you need to give up your cell phone, internet, laptop, TV, and any other technology for the first two nights. More of us than ever are working and staying at home during the pandemic. This means we’re logging far more screen time than usual, leading to “Zoom fatigue” and less time staying active. The goal of this challenge is to hire someone to go off the grid and detox from the day to day calls and screens for two nights, and then use a mobile hotspot connection to report on their experience.
The winner of this challenge will have to give up their devices and social media for 2 nights, and then they’ll follow up on their detox experience on social media using a mobile hotspot connection.
How it works: One random winner will get paid $1,000 to give up technology for a weekend and camp in an RV at a US national park. The winner will need to rent an RV (which SatelliteInternet.com will reimburse) and head to the National Park campsite of their choice on the dates they choose. After the 48 hours digital detox, the winner will have to use a mobile hotspot (or hit the local gas station or cafe for Wi-Fi) on the third night to share their experience online.
SatelliteInternet.com will pay $400 upfront and the remaining $600 upon completion. The winner will also get reimbursed for the RV rental, the mobile hotspot, and food (up to $1,000), so they can comfortably enjoy the break from technology.
The catch is that you won’t be able to capture Instagram-worthy shots on your phone or tweet about how fresh the smell of pine is—no technology allowed beyond what you need to reach your destination safely (at least until the third night).
