If we could just use the stairs a little more often, how much better would we all feel. Its a funny thing how a little fun can make work or anything for that matter, just a little better. Someone showed this video to me and I thought it was a good example of making even climbing stairs a fun idea.

I have started the sport of running again after a couple year break. My older brother has been running faithfully for a couple of years now and I decided that my older brother shouldn’t be in better shape than me. So the last couple weekends we have made some time to run together. It has been nice for me because he is faster, which pushes me. Last night around 9:15 pm, he asked me how far I wanted to run. I told him maybe 4 miles because the longest I have ran since starting up again is 3 miles. He said how about we run to the local grocery store where a Redbox machine is, so he could rent a movie. So I agreed not knowing how far it was going to be round trip. (note that he had already went out for a 6 mile run in the morning.) Off we went for the movie. When we got there, the movie was sold out. He then said, “I think that gas station over there has a redbox, lets go and see if it is in stock there.” Off we went again. Luckily for my sake they did. We then preceded to head home. The rain came out of nowhere but was a nice refresher. We did a total of 4.91 miles. It was a nice run and I did better than I thought that I would. I run using the Garmin Forrunner 305 and it is a great training companion as well.
As I was running I just kept thinking to myself, if more and more people would run to rent their movies, how much better shape would they be in. I challenge all of us to try to be a little healthier by riding our bikes, walking, running, or using any other human powered method to get us to point A to B.
The Stansbury Mountains are often overlooked by most of the Salt Lake City crowds. With the Wasatch Mountains so close many just head up to the Wasatch. Also many think that the west is just full of deserts. I was surprised myself of the beauty of the Stansbury Mountains. We went up South Willow Canyon camping last night. We came across a campground by the name of Intake Campground. It was $10 a night and $6 for an extra vehicle. If you are looking for a new place to go that is close to Salt Lake City, this is the place for you. Most people that come to South Willow Canyon, hike to Deseret Peak. We were not able to do it this time, but I talked with a ranger who gave me some insight on how and when to hike the peak.
This is a short hike that we did today. Getting to the trailhead is simple enough and the falls run all year because of a spring. It is a simple 1.6 miles round trip making it a quick and easy hike to go on one evening. Dogs are permitted on leash. It was a pretty hike and I don’t think that I have ever seen as many catepillars in one day as I seen on this trail. They were every where. My son loved it.
Getting There: Battle Creek Trailhead- From I-15 take the Pleasant Grove exit 275 and go northeast on Pleasant Grove Blvd. At the intersection with State St. continue straight onto Center St. Turn right onto 100 E and then left onto 200 S. Follow 200 S to where it ends at a small dirt parking area. The trails starts just before you go over the bridge to Kiwanis Park to your left.
A friend introduced me to this bike. My wife and I love to go to the store with our bikes. We usually just fill up our Chariot Bike trailer with our groceries and cover the kid in the process. This would create another opportunity to carry more stuff than just groceries. I am hoping to be able to see one of these bikes up close soon. The design seems to be pretty solid and if it can hold up to 600 pounds that is way cool. You can learn more at there website. Madsen
Well today was really just packing up and heading home. We had a great time and are already itching to get out and play some more. We are heading up to Jackson Hole, Wyoming the first part of October and can’t wait for that. As we all know, roads trips must come to an end and the work life has to start again. A parting shot of my boy.
